Long-term Connect Groups
Operation Bedroll Leader: June Hanks When/Where: Wednesdays at 5:00PM in the Lucy Hoyle Room. Start Date: September 20th Description: Crocheting mats from plastic bags for the homeless. Covenant Discipleship Contact: Becky Dehaven (336-202-9009) When/Where: Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the parlor Start Date: October 3rd Description: Every week, outside of the meeting, group members are encouraged to pursue themes of compassion, justice, worship, and devotion. The weekly meeting is a reporting and sharing of our experiences related to these themes. United Methodist Men Leader: Hamp Munsey When/Where: 4th Sunday of each month at 8:00AM, Oakcreast Family Restaurant. Start Date: September 25 Description: The United Methodist Men seek to draw all the men of IPUMC together for a time of fellowship, testimony, and service to our church. United Methodist Women Leader: Diane Joyner When/Where: 3rd Tuesday of the month, 10:30 am in the parlor. Description: The United Methodist Women provide a place for the women of IPUMC to have fellowship and bible study. All women are welcome! Knit Wits When/Where: Mondays at 10AM in the Lucy Hoyle Room. Description: The prayer shawl ministry come together to provide prayer shawls for those in need. This group is not just about knitting prayer shawls, but they come together to provide fellowship, fun, and laughter to those they touch. They have currently distributed over 200 prayer shawls. Keenagers Senior Adult Fellowship Leader: Celia Kiser When/Where: The 2nd Tuesday of each month Description: The dictionary defines "keen" as "having or showing an ability to think clearly and to understand what is not obvious or simple about something," plus it rhymes with "teenager"! So Keenagers is the perfect name for our senior adult fellowship. We meet for lunch, fellowship and sometimes a program. We may take a day trip to Yoder's Market in Yanceyville, visit the fruitcake factory in Bear Creek, NC, visit the Billy Graham Museum in Charlotte, tour Duke Gardens in Durham, have a picnic in the Arboretum or join Centenary UMC's Friendship Day. Whatever we do, we maintain close relationships with one another. Reconciling Ministries When/Where: Sundays at 10:00 am, Fellowship Class. Description: The Fellowship Class of IPUMC welcomes and affirms people of every race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical and mental ability, economic and educational status. We believe that all persons should be able to participate in every phase of church life and that no one should be held incompatible with Christian teaching because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. We celebrate diversity and believe that God's unconditional love extends to all people, no exceptions. We strive to live up to Jesus' teachings to love our neighbor as ourselves. As such, we welcome all who wish to become part of our faith community. Community Groups

Service Connect Groups
Handbells Leader: Daniel Johnson When and Where: Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30PM in the handbell rehearsal room. Start Date: September 3rd Description: This group is open to beginner through advanced ringers. We play every few months in the 11AM service, and do a few special concerts each year. Sanctuary Choir Leader: Daniel Johnson When and Where: Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00PM in the choir rehearsal room. Start Date: August 24 Description: The Sanctuary Choir is responsible for leading the music in the 11AM service each week. This choir is open to those of any musical level, but be prepared to learn about music and enjoy singing! |
